Expect a rigorous, question-life-choices paddle in and paddle out, scenic conifer forest, uneven and wet footing, beautiful sunsets, campfires and hammocks, quirky wildlife, 50lb+ packs, teamwork, plenty of adventure, and exciting tales and pictures to treasure forever. If you're new to the outdoors but ready to brave a semi-primitive experience and approximately 45 miles of paddling, we can teach tent pitching, primitive cooking, handling and transporting canoes, wet-boot portages, food storage, basic safety practices (think sunscreen and water treatments) and BWCA navigation. 

We will car camp at Fenske Lake Friday July 30th and Saturday July 31st with Mass in Ely, MN on Saturday evening with a meal at a local venue. We will carpool up from the cities on Friday, with an option for late arrivals a possibility through Saturday afternoon.  Canoes will be rented from an outfitter in Ely. Gear will be sorted Saturday evening and we will enter the BWCA as soon as possible (morning bird early) on Sunday.
